Hlayisani embraces its meaning which is to protect and nurture and is founded on the principles of Akani (to build), Hlanganani (to come together), Nhlamulo (to provide an answer and response to a need). South Africa is in dire need of growth that generates real employment. The SME sector is the only viable solution for the scale of growth required. Hlayisani carries deep experience in this area and a track record of building businesses generating significant local and international revenue and hence employment in the South African market.

Hlayisani, which means to nurture and grow, was founded in 2016 when Angelhub Ventures (backed by Michael Jordaan and Kevin Harris), a pioneering South African Venture Capital Fund together with Dzana Investments (the Khoza family’s investment vehicle led by former Nedbank Chairman and current PIC Chairman, Dr Reuel Khoza), made common cause to jointly invest strategic support and capital into high-growth, high-impact SME growth businesses with global expansion possibilities.

The team raises just short of R300m additional funding from its family office network and facilitates refinancing of a private equity fund focused on Telco and mining technologies amongst others.
